A BOQ organises defined work into measurable items. It gives contractors a common basis for pricing and helps identify differences between offers.
Contractor quotation reviews
Compare scope, quantities, rates, provisional allowances and exclusions. A lower headline price may leave important work outside the quoted scope.
Planning a renovation loan?

What to bring to the first discussion.
- Town or district and whether the property is a home, hotel or another building.
- Approximate floor area, current condition and a list of proposed works.
- Available drawings, photographs and contractor quotations.
- Whether the work must be phased around occupation or hotel operations.
- The decision you need to make and any lender-specific requirements.
The initial web inquiry only needs a short summary. Detailed records can be requested after the scope and appropriate handling are agreed.
Common budget questions.
Can you price a renovation from floor area alone?
Floor area can support an early allowance, but renovation costs depend on what is retained, repaired or replaced. Hidden defects, service upgrades, access, finishes and site conditions need project-specific review.
Is the online estimator a renovation quotation?
The free estimator uses MoIT BSR 2026 Quick Cost Guide inputs for indicative building costs. It does not measure your renovation, inspect the existing building or provide a contractor quotation.
What can a cost review include?
The agreed scope may include a cost plan, BOQ, rate review or comparison of contractor offers. Fees, deliverables, exclusions and timing are confirmed in a quotation after reviewing the information available.
